Enroll in Our CA COPD Study!

These studies are being conducted at our California locations, if you live in Nevada and are interested in COPD study participation, click here!

First Study

Allied Clinical staff encourages those who suffer from moderate to very severe COPD to consider enrolling in our clinical study.

This study will evaluate the effectiveness of three different metered dose inhalers (MDI) on the rate of COPD exacerbations (worsening COPD symptoms).  The metered dose inhalers (MDIs) contain either an investigational combination of anti-inflammatory medications and bronchodilators or an FDA approved combination of different bronchodilators (also delivered via MDI).  Each MDI is designed to reduce the symptoms of COPD (ex:  shortness of breath) and possibly prevent exacerbations or worsening of COPD symptoms. During the 12 month study, patients will be required to visit the clinic once per month on average.  All patients will also be provided with an albuterol rescue inhaler (Ventolin) at no charge.

Insurance is not required to participate, and COPD related study medications will be provided at no charge.  In addition patients will receive free medical evaluations, procedures, and diagnostic testing. Compensation will be provided to those that qualify at $90 for each visit, up to a maximum of $1260 for the duration of the study.

In order to qualify for the study, patients must meet the following requirements:

  • Be between 40 and 80 years of age

Specifically, we are studying patients who have been diagnosed with COPD and are currently taking a COPD inhaler (such as Advair, Symbicort, Spiriva, Breo, Dulera, QVAR, etc).  In addition, participants must have had a worsening of COPD symptoms which required a visit to their doctor, urgent care, or an emergency department at least once in the last 12 months.

Second Study

Alternatively, we also offer a second COPD study.

This study will compare lung function and health related quality of life in patients with COPD who are either given an anti-inflammatory medication and two different bronchodilators combined together in one ELLIPTA inhaler taken once daily OR commercially available Symbicort MDI (a combination inhaler including an anti-inflammatory medication and a single bronchodilator) taken twice daily WITH Spiriva Handihaler (a single bronchodilator) taken once a day.   During the 4 month study, patients will be required to visit the clinic once per month on average.  All patients will also be provided with an albuterol rescue inhaler at no charge.

Insurance is not required to participate, and COPD related study medications will be provided at no charge.  In addition patients will receive free medical evaluations, procedures, and diagnostic testing. Compensation will be provided to those that qualify at $84 for each visit you complete, up to a maximum of $640 for the entire duration of the study.
